Angioplasty

Angioplasty is a minimally invasive medical procedure used to open up narrowed or blocked arteries, often due to plaque buildup, to improve blood flow. It is also known as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) when performed on the arteries of your heart.

Why is angioplasty performed?

  • To treat coronary artery disease (CAD)
  • To reduce the risk of heart damage or stroke
  • To open blocked heart arteries after a heart attack
  • To relieve chest pain (angina) caused by poor blood flow
  • To improve blood flow in peripheral arteries of legs or kidneys etc.

  • Carotid angioplasty
  • Complex angioplasty
  • Peripheral angioplasty
  • Drug-eluting balloon angioplasty etc.
